Eddie Penney spent 20 years in the U.S. military, first as a Marine and later as a Navy SEAL assigned to the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU), better known as SEAL Team Six. A high school athlete from the Cincinnati, Ohio suburbs, Eddie was drawn to the challenge and potential for adventure that the military could deliver. When the Marine Corps couldn’t provide the level of action that he sought, he made his way to the navy. During the grueling six-month SEAL training and selection program known as Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) Training, Eddie and his fellow trainees watched the 9/11 attacks live as the images streamed worldwide. Knowing that he and his classmates would soon be in harm’s way, the training took on a sobering importance. Suddenly, it was real.

    I have often been asked, “Why are you so passionate, especially about Jesus.” The truth (humbly speaking)- I have thankfully seen, felt, witnessed, gained clarity (continuous), wisdom, been convicted, gone through severe valleys and still do, and grew into who my Savior is and who He says I am. How healing, gracious, loving, and merciful He can be. He defined FREEDOM when the world and my flesh left me empty.

    Please don't misinterpret. I am imperfect, but I know where true strength and guidance live. He is the example we should seek to emulate. I run to Him not the fairness this world sells to make a dollar.

    I can only say this about The Godhead: the more I learn, the more I realize I know nothing, and I have much more to grow into.

Eddie served as a United States Marine to later becoming a U.S. Navy SEAL and joining the Elite SEAL Team 6. Eddie has seen the worst of evil and even became addicted to taking the evil off this planet. A chapter in his new book, Unafraid, titled "kill addict" describes his desires of taking the fight to the enemy. Eddie has weathered the storm and has faced many challenges along his journey while serving at DEVGRU. One of the biggest loss that occurred from his Squadron at Gold was Extortion 17. This is a true story of a man who surrendered his life to God after a life at war.
